Through the British Heart Foundation, DCERA has successfully been granted a free defibrillator for our community. This simple to use, lifesaving peace of equipment is located in an unlocked, temperature controlled cabinet on the fence at the back of 3 Dundonald Crescent. This location was chosen as it is highly visible and easily accessible in the event of a cardiac arrest in or near the estate. Furthermore, Greig Allan, the Chair of DCERA, who lives at number 3, is a qualified first aider who is happy to assist with any medical emergencies within the estate. The defibrillator and it's location are registered on the Circuit, which is the name given to the scheme ran by the National Defibrillator Network. This network is linked to the NHS and the Scottish Ambulance Service meaning they can advise of it's location in an emergency.
DCERA would kindly ask that our residents each give 15 minutes of their time to click on the QR code below and complete the simple to follow online training that could potentially save the live of a friend, family member, or neighbour. Please watch out for the little red card coming through your door shortly with details about the British Heart Foundation and their RevivR programme.
We would also ask parents to please take a moment to educate your children about the defibrillator and the cabinet, and ensure that children know they must not play with the cabinet. As part of the RevivR programme, one of the British Heart Foundations conditions for providing a free defibrillator is that it is stored in an unlocked cabinet with no keycode or password. Whilst this saves valuable time in an emergency, it also means the defibrillator can easily be tampered with, damaged, or stolen. Therefore, DCERA is again available to assist parents in educating the younger members of our community, and will check the condition of the cabinet and defibrillator every day.
If anyone needs help with the training or has any questions regarding the defibrillator, please get in touch with DCERA by leaving your details on our contact page or speak to one of our committee members.
