DCERA In the Community

Updated: Jan 2, 2024

You may have noticed a couple of recent changes within the estate. Our committee members have enlisted the help of a few residents to assist in improving the appearance of the entrance to the estate.

Firstly, the old MOD security gates have been removed as they were in a state of disrepair and did very little to welcome people to our estate. The remaining posts will be painted (when weather permits) and finished with reflective strips to ensure they are easily seen when entering or leaving the estate. Thank you to Jonny Little for helping DCERA with this task. The small metal gate from the recreation area was in an even worse state so it has also been removed. We are enlisting the help of the Irvine Men's Sheds to make a new gate. We have also arranged with North Ayrshire Roads Department for reflective bollards to be installed on the grass verge outside the estate to improve visibility of the junction at the entrance to the estate.

Over the past few weeks, with the help of Cory, Brogan, Gemma, Grant, Adam, and Brian, DCERA were able to help a young family within the estate remove several tonnes of grey stones from their front garden so they can lay grass for their children to safely play on and enjoy. The stones were reused to create a path between the garages and the pavement which runs along the front of the estate. Residents no longer need to risk squeezing past the broken fence and uneven ground to get to the main road. Again, the Irvine Men's Sheds are making a gate for the top of the path to keep the children safe from the road.

A new winter grit bin has been agreed and provided by North Ayrshire Council to be used by residents during the winter months. DCERA will be responsible for ensuring it is kept topped up by collecting salt from Bartonholm Recycling Centre as and when required.

We are now working on replacing the solar powered light on the bus shelter and repairing the bench at the front recreation area. We are also negotiating with North Ayrshire Council to get bins and dog waste bins for the estate.

If you see other items in the estate that need repaired, improved, or replaced, please get in touch through the contact page and we will do what we can to rectify them. If you have any ideas about other items or services that you feel would benefit the estate, we would love to hear from you.
