On Saturday 16th of December, we held our Christmas Fair. Sadly the weather tried to ruin our plans but thanks to the dedication and hard work from our events team, we managed to proceed undeterred with a few adjustments. Due to high winds, we couldn't use marquees and gazebos as planned so we made the last minute (early Saturday morning) decision to use two of the vacant lock-ups as they would provide shelter and a much safer environment for all involved. We appreciate this may have caused disruption to those who live near the lock-ups and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Greig would also like to apologise as it was his intention to spend time with those who attended to introduce himself and talk about some of the work we are doing on the estate, but unfortunately, like Gemma, he was full of the cold and woke up that morning with pretty much no voice. He is now fit and well and looking forward to speaking with any of our residents who would like to learn more about what DCERA is doing for the community.
We would like to give a big thank you to everyone who braved the miserable weather to come along to meet Santa and his helper, and take part in the activities. Also a big thank you to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle, cakes for the bake sale, and activities for the kids.
Thank you to Gillian for securing funding from Co-op along with colouring in packs for the kids. Your help was very much appreciated. Thank you also to Jennifer for doing an amazing job of decorating our DCERA cake.
Lastly thank you to Gemma for organising the event with the help of Heather Smith, Heather McEwan, Shona, Kait, Brogan, and Gillian. You all did a fantastic job and everyone who attended had fun. Especially the kids who enjoyed a Christmas story from Santa and his helper, before receiving gifts and winning prizes in the raffle, whilst eating cakes and drinking hot chocolate.
We look forward to hosting future events and welcome any suggestions for dates and activities for 2024.
